William Murdoch was the first proprietor of Mullan Mills - Nancy Ettensperger gives us a rundown on his life

"Last winter I looked into the life of William Murdoch 1795-1865.  He worked as a land agent for the Leslie family of Glaslough and, for a period of time in the 1830s and 1840s, William operated the Emyvale corn mill, the Emy flour mill and the Mullan flax mill.  In fact, it would seem that William Murdoch was the first proprietor of Mullan Mills.
